1.) Business Transformation Project
This module provides students with a means of developing further the skills and knowledge gained on the MBA, by application to a specific organizational issue or problem.
It enables students to demonstrate proficiency in the design of a business enhancement project, application of appropriate methods of investigation, management of the change process, and maintenance of leadership and vision in the face of the vicissitudes of business realities. It is a pre-requisite for this module that the individual has successfully completed and submitted their Project Proposal as part of the Research Methods module.
On completion of this module the successful student will be able to demonstrate clarities of problem definitions and scopes.
This module will call for the successful student to identify and justify a key managerial issue affecting the industry or their own organisation that requires resolution.
The main focus of the Business Transformation Project is an 'action research' where the organisation or industry directly benefits from the planned intervention of the student using appropriate methods of research and change management.
Tuition is tailored to the specific needs of the student as agreed with the academic mentor/supervisor on the basis of the student's proposal. Students will use their familiarity with the theory and empirical research in their chosen area of study drawn from the Research Methods module, and to demonstrate their ability to review and apply the concepts and techniques critically.
Type of Examination
- The thesis submitted for the action/research project will be a substantial piece of written work.
- VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) for peer review and discussion
2.) Information Management
Value: 20 credits (15 ECTS)
The main aim of this module is to provide you with the knowledge and skills about the application of advanced information technologies and systems that are currently used by organizations to manage information, business processes and decision making.
Upon successful completion of this module, you will be able to discuss how ERP, CRM, e-Business, Business intelligence systems support organizations in information storage, retrieval and processing. You will also be able to Evaluate the benefits and issues associated with the adoption of new technologies and systems in managing information, business processes, and decision making.
There will be two assignments:
- The first assignment requires researching on emerging technological trends related to information management.
- The second assessment is about undertaking information quality audit at your work place (VLE contribution will carry 10%).
3.) Research Methods
This module provides students with a means of developing further the skills in research. It presents the key elements and issues of research design, of processes of collecting evidence and analysing this, and of drawing conclusions.
The module also introduces some of the key controversies of management research, so that the participant not only comes to understand the processes and problems of producing research outcomes, but also becomes a more sophisticated consumer of these in their various forms of dissemination.
Success in producing the key output of this module, The Project proposal, is a requirement for commencing the final Project.
On completion of this module the successful student will be able to demonstrate a broad understanding of the range of tools and techniques available to the management researcher. Students will also be able to critically evaluate key epistemological issues in the field of management research;
